South Strafford, VT – Henry M. Stanley, 71, died Monday evening August 26th at the Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT surrounded by his family.

He was born March 2, 1942 in Hanover, NH a son of Milan and Edith (Parker) Stanley. Henry grew up in Quechee, VT and attended schools in Quechee and Hartford. He was married to Evelyn Chamberlain October 17, 1959 and they have spent the past fifty four years together.

Henry spent all of his working life as a truck driver and heavy equipment mechanic in the Upper Valley, retiring from Jewell Transport in 1999 due to illness.

He was an avid woodworker and loved the outdoors especially camping, feeding wildlife and hunting. Henry also enjoyed firearms and was proud that he was a licensed firearms dealer. More than anything Henry enjoyed being with his family especially his great-grandchildren.

Henry was predeceased by a daughter Linda Stanley. He leaves his wife, Evelyn, of South Strafford, VT, two sons, Henry M. Stanley Jr and Donald Stanley both of White River Jct.; grandchildren Deseree Wilson, Tara Irmisch, Lynn Stanley, Donald Stanley Jr. and Lawrence Welch; three brothers William W. Stanley of Virginia, Phillip Stanley of Lebanon, NH and Robert Stanley of White River Jct., VT; two sisters Mildred Cole of Woodstock, VT and Mary Rice of Enfield, NH.

Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Monday evening September 9th from 6-8PM. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 2PM.
