Obituary

Helena Magher, 76, passed away peacefully at the Margaret Pratt Community on May 15, 2024, with her niece by her side. She was born July 30, 1947, in Manchester, NH, daughter of Denis F. and Mary (LeBrecque) Magher.

Helena embodied all that is kind and good in the world. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and family, always regaling us with her infectious laugh. Never one to let life's hardships stop her, she carried a pervasive spunkiness that was inspiring to all of us. She especially enjoyed working outside in the yard and helping her brother-in-law, John in his workshop. Helena also enjoyed camping with her sister, Margaret and brother-in-law, John. She loved playing Bingo, making art, and doing puzzles. She was intensely proud of her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She celebrated every milestone of their lives with joy.

Helena is survived by her brother-in-law, John Newton of West Hartford; two nieces, Theresa Estrada and her husband Juan of Lebanon, NH and Patricia Gray and her husband Scott of Norwich, VT; a nephew Richard Newton and his wife Unhui of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by her great nieces, Jen Chagnon and Bella Estrada, Margo McFeeley and Clare McFeeley; and great nephews Thomas Newton and Joseph Newton. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Margaret Newton, and her brother, Denis J. Magher.

A graveside service will be held at 11am Tuesday, May 28 at the Saint Joseph Cemetery in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Contributions may be made in Helena's memory to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
