Obituary

WEST FAIRLEE, VERMONT-

Helen A. Stanford, 64, died June 19, 2010 at her home in West Fairlee surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born April 4, 1946 in Manchester, New Hampshire the middle daughter of Leo and Ethel (Moffitt) Mitchell. She attended the More School in Candia and graduated from Central High School in Manchester. After graduation she went to work at the Pandora Knitting Mill in Manchester before going to work at Sanders Associates for a time. She was married to Charles D. Stanford June 25, 1994. They then moved to the St. Albans area where she worked at Drinkwater Jewelers in St. Albans. They moved to West Fairlee in 1996. She then went to work as a paraprofessional in the Rivendale Schools were she worked with special needs kids in Vershire and West Fairlee. This was a calling for her because she truly loved the kids.

Helen was a member of the Lebanon Assembly of God Church in Lebanon, NH and the Westshire ATV Club. She enjoyed flower gardening and keeping the yard tidy.

Helen is predeceased by a brother, Roger Mitchell

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Charles Stanford of West Fairlee, a daughter Christine Carlson of Chester, New Hampshire; three step-sons, Mark D. Stanford of Lancaster, Mathew Stanford of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Jeffrey Stanford of Dunbarton, New Hampshire; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Francis Mitchell, Dale Mitchell, Donald Mitchell all of Manchester, and Robert Mitchell of Franklin, New Hampshire; five sisters, Patricia "Pat" Mitchell, Dorothy Gagnon both of Candia, New Hampshire, Lillian Gilbert of Derry, New Hampshire, Doreen McCormack of Bishop, Georgia, and Arlene Plourde of Manchester, New Hampshire.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Lebanon Assembly of God Church in Lebanon, New Hampshire at 5PM.
Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, Vermont assisted with the arrangements.
