White River Junction, VT- Helen Margaret Moore McCarthy, 86, died unexpectedly, Monday October 10, 2011 at her home of natural causes.
Helen was born October 20, 1924 in Sharon, VT, the daughter of Leonard and Ruth E. (Robinson) Moore. She grew up in Sharon and graduated from South Royalton High School Class of 1942. Helen served her country in the Navy during WWII as a member of the Green Mountain Waves Unit 109. She was married to Edward Fountain October 26, 1946 he died in 1971. Helen went to work at the Baker Library Hanover, NH in 1965 and retired in 1987 after 22 years. She was married to Daniel J. McCarthy January 21, 1974, he died in 1991.
Helen was extremely proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed studying genealogy, and visiting all 251 towns in Vermont with the 251 Club. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Legion Post #48 Hartland, VT, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 2571 in White River Junction.
Helen is predeceased by two sons, Laurence Fountain, Douglas Fountain; and two brothers Paul Moore and David Moore.
Helen is survived by a son, Norman Fountain of Bradford, VT; two daughters, Nancy Schwarz of Orange, NH, and Doreen Aher of Hartford, VT; daughter in law, Patricia Fountain of Enfield, NH twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Moore of Pomfret, VT, Clyde Moore of TX, Joel Moore of Bradford, VT; a sister Eloise Rumrill of Bennington, VT; and several nieces and nephews
A visitation will be held Friday October 14, 2011 from 10-11AM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction followed by a memorial service at 11AM. Burial will follow at the Hartland Village Cemetery in Hartland.
