Sharon, VT.-Helen Marie George, 68, died Saturday November 19th 2011 at her home with her sister and brother-in-law
Shirley and Kevin.
She was born July 3, 1943 in Springfield, VT a daughter Carroll B. and Thelma (Lyons) George. Helen spent most of her younger life living with her family in the Upper Valley before joining Lincoln Street Inc (LSI). For the last 12 years she has lived with Tammy and Mark Melish and their family in Bellows Falls, VT.
Helen has worked at LSI as an office assistant since 2004. She enjoyed working & volunteering in the community. Always positive, helpful and loving Helen was loved by many people in many ways. She was President of the COPS self advocacy group, an active member of the Green Mountain Self Advocates, a statewide advocacy group and most recently has been an active and valued participant of the Springfield Global Campus.
Helen had a love of music, magazines, shopping, going to camp and spending her holidays and birthdays with her family.
She is predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Carroll George Jr. and Douglas George.
She is survived by three sisters, Shirley (Husband Kevin) Eastman-Lane of Sharon, VT; Betty Reil of Topsham, Me and Catherine Messer of Springfield, VT as well as several nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Saturday November 26th from 11AM to 1PM
with a funeral service following at 1PM. A Reception will be held at the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 2571 in White River Jct following the service.
