Norwich, VT - Hazel F. Hickson, 94, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Hanover Terrace in Hanover, NH.

She was born April 25, 1919 in Piermont, NH, one of eight children of Ernest and Hazel (Marshall) Fitzgerald. She was married to Jerome B. Hickson for 72 years.

Hazel graduated from Hanover High School and trained as a nurse at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover. She worked as a nurse in private residential care in the area. She was also a seamstress out of her home and at Campion's tailor shop in Hanover.

Hazel was an active member, a past deacon, and sang in the choir of the Norwich Congregational Church.

She was a member of the Norwich Senior Housing Board, and a Past Master, former Chaplain and a seventy-year member of the Norwich Grange. In the Vermont Children's Aid Society, Hazel was a foster parent and a Trustee. Some of her hobbies included writing poetry, crossword puzzles, genealogy, outdoor activities, sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

She was predeceased by her husband Jerome, who died April 9, 2011.

She is survived by two sons, Jerome Hickson Jr. and wife Nina of Claremont, NH and Thomas Hickson and wife Kay of Phelps, WI; two daughters Pauline H. Rand and husband, John of Cornish Flat, NH and Patricia H. Nowlan of Underhill, VT; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters and a large extended family.

A memorial service at the Norwich Congregational Church will be held Tuesday, January 28th at 11:00.
