White River Junction, VT – Harry E. May, 97, died Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Barre Gardens for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Barre, VT.

Harry was born January 27, 1926, in Sharon, VT a son of Edgar and Ida (Kimball) May. He grew up in Sharon and attended the Howe Hill School. Harry joined the army and proudly served his country during WWII. Following his honorable discharge, Harry met and married the love of his life, Helen Champney. They were wed March 20, 1947, in Norwich, VT and made their home in White River Junction, where he has lived until just recently. Harry was a cement mason and spent a majority of his working years with Trumbull Nelson Construction Company in Hanover, NH.

Harry was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2571 in White River Junction. He enjoyed woodworking and had an eclectic collection of antique woodworking tool that he took great pride in displaying.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen May; a son, Harry E. May, Jr. and a daughter in law, Dodie May.

He is survived by a son, Lee T. May from Lenoir, North Carolina; three daughters, Wanda Cogswell and husband, Brian of Dummerston, VT, Loretta LeMay of Newport, VA and Myra Bickford of Deering, NH; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2PM in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Sharon, VT on Saturday, May 13 ^th , 2023.
