Harry Wendell Bradley
West Lebanon , NH – Harry Wendell Bradley, 88, died Sunday March 27 th at Florida Hospital in Zephyrhills, FL.
He was born on July 11, 1922, in Westford, MA, a son of Richard and Tressor (Dean) Bradley. After graduating from Whitcomb High School in Bethel, Harry enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II for four years. After returning from the war, he worked for several years for the Central Vermont Railroad. He was married to Violet Perrault on September 4, 1949, in Montpelier, VT. They lived in Roxbury, VT and later in South Northfield operating the Pioneer Restaurant for 17 years. Harry and Violet resided in Proctorsville, VT for several years. During that time, he was a real estate agent. In 1985 they moved to West Lebanon, NH and lived there for the past 25 years. Harry and Violet operated a fundraising organization for non-profits. They have enjoyed spending winters in Marco Island, FL and more recently in Zephyrhills, FL.
Harry enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and pinochle, and loved a good game of golf. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and later in life, enjoyed traveling around the world including Australia and Hong Kong.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, and past member of the Carter Country Club, Lebanon, and the Northfield Country Club.
He was predeceased by his wife Violet in September; five brothers Richard, Norman, Fred, Franklin, and Ralph Bradley as well as a sister Ruth Gillander.
He is survived by his children Terry Ann Ranney of Cavendish, Ronald Bradley of Swanton, VT and Scott Bradley of Weathersfield, VT; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers Robert Bradley of Virginia and Sidney Bradley of Florida; two sisters Beverly Striker of Bethel, VT and Betty Chase of Bethel, VT; and many nieces and nephews. Harry loved life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by his family.
Friends may call Wednesday May 4 from 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT.
A memorial service will be held at the Lebanon United Methodist Church, Thursday May 5, at 9:30AM . Burial will be in the Vermont Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at 1 PM.
