Obituary

Windsor, Vermont – Harriette C. "Chic" Streeter, 92, died Wednesday afternoon, December 4, at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Heath Center in Windsor, VT. She was born March 24, 1921 in East Weare, NH the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Mills) Chandler. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1940 and then attended Keene State Teacher's College in Keene, NH. She played field hockey both at the high school and collegiate levels. On December 7, 1942, she was married to Harold "Hal" Streeter, Sr. just shortly before he was due to ship out and serve with the Army Air Corps in Africa. Harriette returned to Lebanon and taught Home Economics at the high school for a short time. She worked for many years at The French Shop in Lebanon where she custom made and altered wedding party dresses. After her retirement she missed retail and opened The Merry-Go-Round Boutique which offered customers good used clothing. Chic and Hal made their home in Lebanon, NH until 1969 when they bought land and built their new home in Enfield, NH overlooking Mascoma Lake where they lived for the rest of their married life. Mr. Streeter died April 21, 2006. Following her husband's death she moved to Windsor, VT to be closer to her family. Most recently lived at The Village at Cedar Hill where she enjoyed her friend "Red" the cat.

Chic and Hal were very active with the Keene State College Alumni Association and were proud members of the Alumni Golden Circle Society, alumni who graduated over fifty years. Chic was an avid New England sports fan, religiously following all the of the Boston teams. She also enjoyed watching the William sisters tennis matches as well as many other sporting events. She and her husband were very active with the bowling leagues in the Upper Valley area. They also played golf at several of the local country clubs. Harriette loved to cook and sew but most of all she loved her cats.

She was predeceased by her husband, a son, Harold A. "Butch" Streeter Jr., who died in 2007, a brother Arthur Chandler, and sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Ruth Stark. She is survived by her sister Virginia Bragg of East Montpelier, VT, a brother Byron Watson of Vernon, VT, three grandchildren, Kathryn Page, her husband Jeffrey, Jaquelyn Griep and Charlene Dana, seven great grandchildren, Corey Roberts, Justin Page, Jacob Page, Laurel Dana, John Griep, Joshua Griep, Aubrey LaFlamme, all of Windsor, VT as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in Lebanon, NH for Harriette, Harold Sr. and Harold Jr. at a later date at the convenience of the family.
