Harold W. Potter
White River Junction, VT- Harold W. Potter, 84, died peacefully July 30, 2011 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction, VT.
Harold was born November 16, 1926 in Claremont, NH the son of Harold C. and Thelma (Wark) Potter. He spent most of his early years in Woodstock, VT and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1944. He served in the US Navy during WWII, after which he was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, retiring after 37 years of service.
He was an avid reader and sports fan. In his younger days he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and bowling, all at which he excelled. His friend Bo Kelly and cousin Dorlon Picard remember that he had a great mind for sports statistics.
Harold is survived by several cousins and their families, as well as special friends, including Carol Solimine of Bethel, VT and Barbara and Harold Neilsen of White River Junction. The family wishes to thank the caring staffs at the Veterans Administration Hospital, the Brookside Nursing Home and the VNA Hospice of VT and NH. Also the wonderful people who visited and helped Mr Potter during his recent illness.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock, VT on Saturday August 6th at Noon. Following the service, family and friends are invited for a luncheon in West Lebanon, NH. Harold enjoyed many wonderful meals at the Weathervane and would find it a fitting place for family and friends to gather as guests in his memory. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.
