Windsor, VT- Harold J. Osmer, 88, former longtime resident of Brownsville, VT, died August 24, 2020 at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT.

Harold was born April 16, 1932 in Hartland, VT, a son of Vernon and Gladys (Ladeau) Osmer. Harold attended the Hartland Schools. He went to work for a time at the Bigalow Farm in Royalton, VT before joining the Navy. Harold served his country honorably during the Korean War. Following his discharge he returned to Vermont and settled in Brownsville. He went to work for Cone Automatic where he worked as a machinist. Harold was married to Janet M. Sweet on April 28, 1979. He retired from Cone Blanchard in 1990.

He was a proud life member of the American Legion Post # 25 in Windsor.

Harold enjoyed digging bottles and collecting them, he enjoyed making jewelry and had made full size POW/MIA and an American flag of beads, he was an experienced leather worker, in his later years he enjoyed puzzles.

He is predeceased by two brothers, Daniel Osmer and Ronald Osmer

Harold is survived by his beloved wife Janet Osmer of Windsor, three sons Steven Menard of Northport, FL, Scott Menard of Brownsville and Bruce Menard of Windsor; three daughters Debra Curtis and her husband Donald of West Lebanon, Darlene Richardson and her husband Michael of Woodbury, Vermont and Lisa Menard of Plainfield, NH; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a brother David Osmer of Strafford, VT.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020 11am at the Brownsville Cemetery in Brownsville, Knight Funeral Home in Windsor has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to Harold's family in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com .
