Obituary

Dunnellon, FL- Harold John Nolan, Jr., 88, passed away March 6, 2010 in Dunnellon, FL.

He was born in Sunapee, New Hampshire and was a graduate of Stevens High School in Claremont, NH, class of 1940. He served in the Army Air Force as navigator during WWII. Upon completion of the war, he enrolled in Boston University, BA 1948. He also held a Masters Degree from Trinity College, Hartford, CT and did post graduate work at the University of Southern California. As an educator, he held various teaching positions in both high schools and colleges.

As a youth, he worked during the summer months on a cousin's farm in Vermont, where he developed an interest in and love of farming. Later in life he purchased a small farm in Johnsonville, NY and then a much larger farm West Hoosick, NY. Upon retirement from farming, he moved to Spruce Creek Preserve in Dunnellon, FL.

He is survived by his loving wife Frances, a son Harold John Nolan III, a daughter Faith Bonchonsky and her husband Michael of Nutley, NJ and grandchildren Katie Kelly, and Husband Darren of Stamford, CT and Lauren and Michael Bonchonsky of Nutley, NJ, a sister Gloria Hosford and her husband Peter of Rehoboth, MA, a sister in law Ann Nolan of Gulf Shores, AL and her daughter Judith Cober and husband Robert and their sons Robie and Jordan of Churchill, Ontario, Canada and other extended and loving family members. He was predeceased by his brother Herrick Nolan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24th, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT with the Rev. William E Nelson Officiating.

Interment will be at the Ascutneyville Cemetery, Ascutney, VT.
