Harold S. Ellis

White River Jct., VT - Harold, S. Ellis, 81, died Saturday June 22nd at home, surrounded by his family.

Harold was born, the only child of Earl and Gertrude (Whyte) Ellis, on November 30, 1931 in Hanover, NH. He grew up in White River Jct. and graduated as President of the Hartford High School Class of 1951. Harold later entered the US Army and served in the Korean War. He returned from his military service and received training as an x-ray technician before beginning his thirty year career at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in White River Jct. retiring in 1988.

Harold loved his time spent with family. He especially liked watching his grandchildren's sporting and extracurricular events. Even when his family wasn't participating Harold enjoyed Hartford football and basketball games. He also enjoyed watching his Boston teams play, especially the Patriots and Red Sox. Travelling was a favorite of Harold's, particularly trips to Florida, St. Maarten and Maine as well as spending time at his cottage on Chalk Pond in Newbury, NH.

Harold is survived by his wife Ruth Carter Ellis of White River Jct., to whom he was married six days short of fifty five years; a daughter Kerry Ellis of White River Jct., a son Kevin Ellis of Wilder, VT; and two grandchildren, Douglas and Ashley Ellis both of Lebanon, NH. As an only child, Harold was especially close with his wife's family and leaves a sister-in-law Connie Smith, brother-in-law Philip Carter and his wife Patricia as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT Tuesday from 6-8PM. A memorial service will be held at the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ in Hartford Village on Wednesday June 26th at 1PM.
