White River Jct., VT – Harold R. Bell, 87, died Thursday April 2, 2020 at home in White River Jct., VT.
He was born July 11, 1932 in White River Jct., VT a son of George C. and Lottie (Densmore) Bell. Harold graduated from Hartford High School Class of 1951 before serving as an Airborne Radio Operator in the US Navy from 1951 until 1955. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he returned home to attend the University of Vermont. Harold married Vernona Wallace in North Haverhill, NH on January 31, 1959 and they began a family in White River Jct. where they have lived since.
Harold worked at the US Post Office in White River Jct., VT for over thirty years, starting as a clerk, later working as a distributor on trains and highway busses, retiring in 1992 as a Quality Control Specialist. After retiring he worked as a caretaker at an estate in Norwich and kept busy with a variety of other part time jobs.
He was an active member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in White River Jct. and enjoyed spending time outdoors especially hunting, fishing and camping. Harold was an accomplished marksman and spent many hours shooting and reloading. He was a life member of the N.R.A. and a member of the Hartford Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife Vernona; sons, Chad and his wife Karol of White River Jct. and Brad and his partner Cathy of Fairlee, VT; four grandchildren, Troy, Seth and his wife Emily, Justin Harold and Luke; step grandchildren Alex, Caleb and Zoe; a sister Geraldine O. Brown of Wilder and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services at this time. At a later date a memorial will be held at the Vermont Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT followed by a celebration of life at the V.F.W. in White River Jct.
