Obituary

North Hartland, VT- Harley N. Strout, 81, died on May 1, 2025, at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born on August 18, 1943, to Gerald and Elizabeth (Wilmot) Strout, Harley grew up in Lyme, NH and went on to build a life centered around hard work, family, music, and the outdoors. A skilled carpenter, Harley spent much of his career working for himself, taking pride in the craft of his trade. He also served his country as a member of the National Guard.

Harley had a deep love for music and spent many years playing guitar and singing in local bands, especially enjoying private parties where he could share his passion for country and gospel songs. Whether it was a western movie on the screen, an animal show on TV, or a quiet evening at home with his beloved cat, Callie, Harley found joy in the simple pleasures. He cherished family gatherings, cook outs, and the time spent with loved ones. An avid deer hunter, he often enjoyed hunting trips, sometimes alongside his wife, Diane, creating memories that will be treasured for many years to come.

He was predeceased by two daughters, Hope Howe, and Melissa Pero. Predecessors also include his siblings, Frank, Rose, Leslie, and Evelyn.

Harley leaves behind his wife, Diane of North Hartland, his daughters, Sonia Davis, Billie Jo 'BJ' Boyd, and his son, Christopher Pero; stepchildren, Wendy Aldrich, Tammy Burke, Chester Welch, Jr., and Gary Welch. Survivors also include his brothers, James and Gene Strout.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Knight Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook found at www.knightfuneralhomes.com
