Gregory Alan Smith
Cuttingsville, Vermont – Gregory Alan Smith, 58, died November 7, 2011 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in White River Jct., VT.
He was born April 25, 1953 in Rutland, VT the middle son of Richard New Smith and Carolyn (Angell) Smith. After Greg graduated from Rutland High School he served in the US Air Force as a medic during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force as a disabled veteran he worked in the morgue at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in White River Jct. as a Pathology Technician, assisting with autopsies. He later took classes at Vermont Community College and received his Bachelor's Degree from the College of St. Joseph.
Greg has lived in the Rutland area most of his life where as a member of Trinity Episcopal Church he was baptized and served as an acolyte in his younger years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 31 in Rutland.
He loved doing creative landscaping and working with old cars and motorcycles, especially Triumph motorcycles.
Greg was predeceased by his father and is survived by his only child Jessica Lennon of Rutland Town, her three daughters and her mother Donna Ryan; his mother, Connie Angell Smith, of Chittenden as well as two brothers Richard New Smith II and Timothy Smith.
A time to pay respects to Greg's family will be held in the chapel of Trinity Episcopal Church on West Street in Rutland on Friday November 18th from 5-7. A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday November 19th at 11AM with military honors to follow.
