WINDSOR, VT
Grace B. Fontaine, 89, formerly of Windsor passed away Wednesday morning, March 31, at the Woodlawn Care Center in Newport, NH where she has resided for the past two years.
She was born September 20, 1920 in Candia, NH the daughter of Louis and Rosanna (Landry) Deneault. She received her schooling in Manchester, NH. She married Denzel A. Fontaine in Manchester on February 21, 1939. They moved to Windsor in 1942. She was employed at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor for twenty one years, and at the former Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover for eleven years and most recently at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor until her retirement in 1982.
Mrs. Fontaine was a member of the American Legion Post #25 Auxiliary in Windsor, and a member and Past President of the World War Mothers. She enjoyed singing, dancing, and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mr. Fontaine passed away in 1983. She was also predeceased by one son, Rickey Fontaine in 2002, and one sister, Blanche Perron.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Archibald and her husband, Howard of Newport, NH, two sons, Richard Fontaine and his wife Jody of Mayodan, NC and Russell Fontaine and his wife Doris of Claremont, NH, one daughter in law, Barbara Fontaine of Windsor, eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, one sister, Simone LaChance of Wallingford, CT, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Monday evening, April 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor with the Rev. Paul N. Belhumeur, M.S., officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery in Windsor.
