Obituary

Gordon died unexpectedly Friday August 25th at the age of 64 years old. Truly a legend has been lost. Gordon was a wealth of information on so many topics, but especially on sports! His love of Boston sports teams & his Dartmouth student athletes was well known! He could recall scores at the drop of a hat, even if they were 20 years ago. He could recall who went to the Olympics, who was signed by which team and have a good-natured argument about why his teams were better than yours.

A graduate of Hartford High School class of 1977, Gordon might be best remembered for working most of his lifetime for McDonalds, which many kids in the Upper Valley enjoyed, either when they were little, and he'd give out happy meals or later when they needed a job. Gordon loved kids of all ages! This easily transitioned when he went to work for Dartmouth College Dining Services- The Class of 1953 Commons. There wasn't a student that Gordon didn't know and if they were an athlete, their team record. He loved to talk about yesterday's games and who he thought would pull off today's win. He had Boston sports ties for each team and wore the winning ties. When new students started at Dartmouth he'd tell them they couldn't come to school if they had a different sports team and from there, he built the rivalry & friendship. When not talking sports, he could be found discussing rock bands and who he had seen in concert!  While KISS might be his favorite, many others were a close contender.

More than his love of sports, Gordon loved his family dearly. He leaves behind his wife, Linda (Doherty) Wright, having just celebrated 39 years of marriage and their son, Nicholas Wright, who he was incredibly proud of. He also leaves behind his sister, Kay Wright of Inverness, FL many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick Gordon Wright & Irene Mills and his brother, Edward Wright.

Gordon loved going to Nick's sporting events and was often heard letting the ref know how he was wrong, loudly. He had a quick dry wit and was well known for his "dad jokes". Gordon & Linda went on a trip to Ireland last year and even there, Gordon kept up on his sports teams! While at home, Gordon was busy with his gardens and took pride in his lawn and if you drove by, sometimes Gordon and Willie (the pup) could be seen in the window watching a game from the chair. Some called Gordon a gentle giant, he will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
