Obituary

White River Jct., VT – Glenna Seaver, age 90, died Thursday, March 7th, 2024, at Rutland Health and Rehabilitation in Rutland, VT.

Glenna was born August 28, 1933, in Wilmington, Vermont and grew up as the second youngest of eight on the family farm, running horse teams by age 8.

She could drive manual transmission cars, swim lap after lap, wait tables, type forty words per minute, tend to her four sons, and always had her hair in a delicate French twist. All of these things were made more impressive by the fact that she had permanently lost use of her dominant arm at age eleven. She spent six months in the children's hospital in Boston receiving experimental surgery, which allowed her to retain minimal use of her arm and hand after battling polio. The lessons she learned there helped her understand how capable she was and always would be, even though she lived with a disability. She never let it slow her down and her resilience allowed her to live an incredibly fruitful life. Her oldest son stated, "She did the best she could with what she had"

After graduating from Woodstock High School at the top of her class, supposedly voted "Best Laugh" her senior year, she went on to be the first member of her family to attend college, with dreams of gaining an education that would help her help others. She went on to serve in many positions over the years. She ran the switchboard at Mary Hitchcock, worked in emergency admissions, and also spent time caregiving, being a patient companion and spending quality time when people needed her most.

She enjoyed the works of Shakespeare, had thoroughly studied Latin (and was quick to correct you), and wrote reams of poetry that her family will cherish for many years to come. She spent her free time as a part of the Order of the Eastern Star and singing in the church choir, as well as going out dancing with her son, Timothy. Her family will hold on to memories of her stories, the trips they took together, and the legacy of her spitfire attitude and quick wit which will live on for many generations.

Glenna was predeceased by the father of her children, Forrest Seaver. She leaves behind four sons, Mick Seaver of Biddeford, ME, Barry Seaver of Lebanon, NH, Timothy Seaver of White River Jct., VT, and Randy Seaver of Coopersville, MI, as well as her younger sister, Elva Fish of Killington (formerly Sherburne), VT. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
