West Lebanon, NH – Glenn E. Kenison, 85, long time resident of Sharon, VT, died peacefully Friday afternoon, January 22, at the Jack Byrne Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Lebanon, NH, where he received loving care from the entire staff.
He was born January 7, 1936 in Sharon, VT the son of Glenn and Beatrice (White) Kenison. He left school at an early age to work at the Hartford Woolen Mill to help his family. He joined the US Marine Corps and served from 1955 to 1959, where he earned his GED. He married the love of his life, Argene (Jean) Rhodes on December 22, 1955. They made their home in White River Jct., VT for the first few years and then moved to Sharon, Vermont where they resided for 59 years before moving to Quail Hollow in West Lebanon, NH for the past 18 months.
Glenn was an incredibly hard worker and worked his way up the ladder at the Windsor County Feed and Supply Company until he became the manager. His long and successful career lasted until the business closed when he was sixty years old. Glenn took a job with Engelberth Construction and retired two years later. Several years before his retirement, in 1985, he and Jean purchased a camp on Seymour Lake in Morgan, VT. They spent many weekends there until his retirement when they summered full time at their camp. Glenn was an avid fisherman and accomplished hunter. He was a founding member of the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department and Sharon Horseshoe League. He was a long time member of the Hartford Elks and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He was predeceased by an infant son, Steven Glenn, who died at birth; his parents, a brother, Bradley and three sisters, Phyllis Renner, Marilyn Paronto and Rebecca Townsend.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Jean of West Lebanon, NH, son Thomas Kenison and his wife, Sophia of Wilder, VT, two daughters, Pamela Brackett and her husband, Bill of Sharon, VT, Brenda Carpenter and her husband, Denis also of Sharon, VT, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four brothers, Wendall Kenison of West Hartford, VT, Stanley Kenison of White River Junction, VT, Marshall Kenison of Sharon, VT, Rodney Kenison of North Pomfret, VT, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held later in the spring in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Sharon, VT.
