Windsor, VT – Gerard P. "Jerry" Hemond, 80, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022.

Jerry was born March 29, 1942, in St. Albans, VT the son of Philip and Helena (Rocheleau) Hemond. Jerry graduated from the Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. Following graduation, Jerry worked as a telegrapher for the Central Vermont Railroad. Jerry was a proud member of the Vermont National Guard, serving for 8 years. In 1965, he was united in marriage with Donna Lee Fortier.

In 1968, he took over the Sunoco station in West Lebanon, NH operating as Jerry's Sunoco until 2004 when he sold to retire.

In 2007, Jerry and Donna purchased a home in Tavares, FL where Jerry enjoyed fishing every day "on his dock or on his boat," returning summers to be with his family. One of Jerry's greatest joys was his grandchildren. He continued working one day a week for Grays Auto Auction and White River Toyota doing car swaps.

Jerry is predeceased by his father, Philip, mother, Helena (Rocheleau) Hemond, and sister, Ruth Douglas. He is survived by his wife, Donna Lee Hemond of Windsor; two sons, Scott Hemond (Rose) of South Royalton, Vt, and Dwight (Tami) of Hartland, VT, three grandchildren, Michael, Emily, and Hunter as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, June 18, 2022 in the Hartland Village Cemetery. Knight Funeral Home in Windsor has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to Jerry's family in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com .
