White River Junction, VT - Geraldine E. (Greene) Williams, 88, affectionately known to many as “Geri,” passed away on August 24, 2026, in Arlington, Massachusetts.
Geraldine was born on July 1, 1938, the daughter of Sewell Greene. She grew up in Danby, VT, and went on to attend and graduate from Castleton Teachers College, where she prepared for what would become a lifelong career devoted to education.
Geri spent many years as an educator in the Upper Valley, teaching in the White River Jct., VT, and West Lebanon, NH, area. She later became principal of Mount Lebanon School in West Lebanon. Even after retirement she continued consulting in Battle Creek, Michigan. Education was an important part of Geri’s life, and through her many years as a teacher and school leader, she touched the lives of generations of children, families, and fellow educators.
Geri married Duane C. Williams, with whom she shared her life and raised their son, Daniel Cadvan Williams.
Beyond her dedication to education, Geri had many interests that brought her happiness throughout her life. She loved crafting, particularly sewing and knitting, and enjoyed creating things with her own hands. She had a great love of music and especially treasured traveling to New Orleans with Dan to attend the Jazz Festival. Geri enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places, and she was also an avid reader who found great pleasure in a good book.
Faith was also an important part of Geri’s life. Her religious beliefs provided a source of strength and meaning throughout the years.
Geri will be remembered for her dedication to education, her strong faith, her creativity and curiosity, the many years she spent serving children and families in her community and experiencing the world around her. Her influence lives on through the countless students whose lives she touched during her long career in education and through the family and friends who shared in her life.
Geri is survived by her nephews and niece: Mark (Jordan) Lockwood, Henry Lockwood, and Nathan (Kristin) Lockwood, all of Michigan, and Kendra (Brian) Gorton of Vermont; her sister-in-law, Monica Greene of, Vermont; as well as three great-nephews, one great-niece, extended family, and many friends.
