LEMPSTER, NH
George A. Nash, 74, a longtime resident of Lempster, NH passed away Thursday morning, January 23 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH
He was born January 2, 1940 in Langdon, NH the son of Stillman and Edith (Sawyer) Nash. He attended school in Langdon and returned later in life to earn his diploma. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany from February of 1957 to January of 1960. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Charlestown, NH.
He married Patricia Ann Locke in Newport, NH on June 6, 1969. Mr. Nash worked as a woodworker and steel worker for several years. He most recently had owned and operated Nash's Tree Service in Lempster. He also volunteered at the country music radio station in Bellows Falls and had traveled with his wife and his band "George and the Wannabees", playing country music throughout New England.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #26 in White River Jct., VT.
He was fond of snowmobiling, motorcycling, hunting and fishing. He loved country music. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia "Pattie" Nash.
Survivors include three daughters, Mauna Rafus of Quechee, VT, Carrie Nash of Glens Falls, NY and Christine Perkins of Geenwich, NY, one stepson, Richard Hamel of Newport, NH, one sister, Sylvia Wilson of Charlestown, NH, six brothers, William "Sonny" Nash of Middlebourne, West Virginia, Gordon Nash of Charlestown, NH, Roy Nash of Charlestown, NH, Sandy Nash of Lebanon, NH, Richard Nash of Walpole, NH and Charles Nash of Florida, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. At his request there will be no formal funeral service. Committal services will be held at the Hew Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at the convenience of his family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Valley Humane Society, at 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748.
