George D. Murray's Obituary

Canaan, NH George D. Murray, 89, died Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, VT.
George was born December 5, 1927 in Lynn, MA, a son of George and May Eola (Bourbeau). He attended the Lynn Public Schools, and after leaving school he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served his country in the Pacific Fleet during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Haverhill, MA, where he worked as a carpenter. He later moved to Florida where he was self-employed, built his family home, and operated a landscaping business. After approximately 25 years George relocated to Canaan, NH.
George was a passionate woodworker, he was very artistic, working in portrait painting and photography. He also loved to garden and landscape. He enjoyed his Red Sox baseball and watching the Patriots play and win. He was extremely generous and kindhearted, and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Canaan.
He is predeceased by a brother Ernie and a sister Lauretta.
George will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two daughters: Lynne A. Murray and her husband William Amaral of Canaan, and Gale E. Murray and her husband Bill Wanner, also of Canaan; three grandchildren: Daniel Cheney, Jared Cheney, and Hayley Blinn; and one great-granddaughter Layla Murray.
No funeral or memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Canaan Town Library or the Canaan Senior Citizens Center. There will be a celebration of George's life held at a later date.
