IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George
Demers
January 13, 1941 – December 19, 2024
East Thetford, VT - George Emile Demers, 83, died at his home in East Thetford on December 19, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Born on January 13, 1941, in Lebanon, NH, to Emile and Simonne (Bathalon) Demers, George was a well-respected, lifelong resident of the Upper Valley. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1959, and on October 24, 1959, he married the love of his life, Anne Austin. Together, they shared 65 years of love, laughter, companionship, and adventure.
George worked tirelessly throughout his life. He began his career on local farms, including Pompy Farm in Norwich. He later transitioned to his own business, where he did carpentry and odd jobs for the community. Known for his hard work and dedication, George was deeply committed to helping others. Whether it was lending a hand to family or neighbors in need, he was always there. His generosity extended to his church and community, where he was a steadfast and helpful presence.
Family was the heart of George's life. He took great joy in building homes for his children, providing them with a lasting legacy of love and care. In his later years, after the children left home, George and Anne embarked on an adventurous chapter, traveling around the United States in their RV, and cruising to Alaska creating memories that would last a lifetime.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Demers; his wonderful children, Jeffrey Demers, his wife Lauren, Annmarie Lareau and her husband John, Michelle Batchelder, Julie Demers, and Candace Farewell; and seven grandchildren who loved their Papa: Danielle Demers and husband Ashton, Renee, and Monique Demers, Sara Lareau and husband James, Matthew Lareau and wife Alyssa, and Ethan Lareau, Michael Batchelder and wife Kaitlyn.
