Wilder, VT – George Rosaire Cusson, 76, died peacefully on Friday December 23, 2016 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont.
George was born March 8, 1940 in Hanover, New Hampshire, the only child of Dr. Charles J. and Agnes (McGarrigle) Cusson. He grew up and attended school in Wilder, graduating from Hartford High School in 1958. He enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1958 until 1962 with the 54th Infantry. After his military service, George married Kay Fair Copeland on December 28, 1963 in West Lebanon, NH and left on their honeymoon for Florida where they lived for four years. Kay and George lived in Connecticut for several years, returning to Vermont in 1968. George worked for over twenty years at New Jersey Machine Tool in Lebanon before retiring.
George loved the outdoors, especially gardening. Perhaps the only ones who loved his garden more than he were the squirrels. George spent countless hours capturing these "tree rats" and releasing them across the Connecticut River. He was a member of the American Legion in Lebanon, NH and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in White River Jct., VT.
George was predeceased by his parents and his son, Mathieu Copeland Cusson, who died in 2013.
He leaves his wife, Kay, of Wilder; a daughter Monique Cusson, her husband Dean Dakolias and their children Clio and Copeland of Bronxville, NY as well as a sister- and brother-in-law, Pam and Willis Slaughter, and their children Laura and Will.
A celebration of George's life will take place in early summer.
