Gary Alan Tillman

Ascutney, VT - Gary Alan Tillman, 78 set sail on his last fishing trip from home with his family by his side, on June 28th, 2026.

He was born October 15th, 1947, in Cleveland, OH a son of Laurence F. and Bertha L. (Wesky) Tillman. Gary spent his early years in the Cleveland area before his family moved to Ascutney when he was 16. He graduated from Windsor High School before serving two tours in Vietnam with the US Navy Seabees. Gary was married to Virginia Gilmore in 1968, and they have made their home on the family farm in Ascutney since. After returning home from his military service, he began working with Nail H Daniels Construction in Ascutney where he worked for most of his career.

When he wasn't working in his wood shop building projects, he loved spending time with his sons hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife , Virgina, of Ascutney, sons, Michael Tillman(Stacy) of Ascutney and Paul Tillman(Chauncie) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Kaleb, Noah,Brandon, Victoria,Nathan , and Christian as well as a sister-in-law Deborah Scullin(Donald) of Cavendish, VT.
