St. Johnsbury, VT – Garry V. Hosford, 66, died on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Windsor, Vermont on December 29, 1957, the third child of Lawrence and Harriett (Manning) Hosford and grew up in North Hartland.

Growing up, Garry's streak of independence kept his family on their toes and he marched to his own beat.

As a young man he enjoyed hunting deer with his father and loved the tranquility of fishing on the water. He was a talented cribbage player, often playing his siblings online and friends and community members in person.

He is survived by two children Ashlee Howe of Claremont, NH and Ryan Howe of White River Junction, VT; three siblings David Hosford and wife Karen of Sykesville, MD, Bill Hosford and wife Virginia of Pueblo West, CO, and Julie Weldemariam of Manassas, VA; one stepdaughter Sabrina Getty; sixteen grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Betty A. Hosford.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 11 am at Hartland Village Cemetery and memorial donations are appreciated to Riverside Life Enrichment Center or the Caledonia Home Healthcare and Hospice.
