Wilder, VT- Freda A. Kingsbury, 85, died Friday, December 7, 2018 at Hanover Terrace in Hanover, NH.
Freda was born May 9, 1933 in Bradford, VT a daughter of Lloyd and Mabel (Richardson) Kidder. She grew up in Bradford and Graduated from Bradford Academy class of 1951. She was married to John T. Kingsbury on May 11, 1951 they lived in Bradford and she stayed home to care for the children until they were all in school, later she would clean houses around town. In 1968 they moved to Wilder and she went to work at the Vermont Heel Company in Wilder for a time, Corner Drug in White River Junction, and later CB Sports in Lebanon as a seamstress before going to work at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover in food services. John died in 1985, she continued to work at the hospital retiring in December of 1997. She then took care of her father and father-in-law until their deaths.
Freda was a member of the White River Junction Methodist Church, and helped on many Turkey Suppers, a volunteer at the Bugbee Senior Center and when John was alive she was a member of the Twin State Squares, Cardigan Mountain Squares and the Covered Bridge Squares. She also enjoyed Knitting, Crochet and most of all socializing especially with her family.
Freda is predeceased by her husband; Son Steven Kingsbury; and a sister Joyce Carbee.
She is survived by two sons Gary Kingsbury of Wilder and Michael Kingsbury of Randolph Center, VT; a daughter Patricia Barbour of Hartford; a brother Byron Kidder of Bradford; three sisters, Donna Wing of Bradford, Betty Spring of Massachusetts and Linda Minickello of Keene, NH; Eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 11, at 10am in the Oxbow Cemetery in Newbury, VT. Knight Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to Freda's family in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com .
