Hartford, VT - Francis Julian Roy, 80, died Wednesday evening March 19
th
at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct.
He was born April 10, 1933 in Peabody, MA, son of Peter E. and B. Alice Roy. After graduating from Peabody High School he worked locally until enlisting in the US Air Force, serving in England from 1952 until 1956, during the Korean War. Upon returning from his military service Mr. Roy began his career in the camera sales, working at Cameracraft, Look Photo and IMC in Newton, MA and later at the Camera Shop of Hanover where he worked for 17 years and then ProCam in White River Jct. until retiring.
Francis was married to Elizabeth Winchester at Star of the Sea church in Marblehead, MA on October 17, 1964. They lived in Peabody until moving to Hartford, VT in 1973 where they lived the rest of their lives. Beth died May 29, 2012.
He was also predeceased by his parents, brother Maurice Roy, and sister Pauline Spinneit.
Survivors include his sister Lorraine Bradley of Braintree, MA, daughter Stephanie Latta of Broomfield, CO, son David Roy of White River Jct., a grandson, and three step-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. on Monday March 24
th
from 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday March 25
th
at 11AM at St. Anthony's Church also in White River Jct. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery later in the spring.
