Obituary

Acworth Francis J., 75, passed away on November 30, 2022. Raised on Long Island, Frank, as he was known to all who knew him, was a bit of a rebel. After attending the School of Visual Arts whose assignments led him to create such pieces as "Agony," a full-size plaster of Paris man, who eventually ended up adorning the backyard until its burial there, as well a painting of four butts which still hangs in its place of honor and a canoe, it was evident that his journey would take him on a different course.

Frank found his true home in N.H., settled down and had a family, but his interests remained the same. He was an avid cyclist since his days at the bike club in Westbury and in the "north woods" became a cross-country skier as well. Enjoyed canoeing, hiking and all things outdoor. A Woodstock graduate, he appreciated folk music especially Peter, Paul & Mary and, surprising his guests at his wedding to his now wife, Linda, gave a festive rendition on the harmonica.

Frank also played the flute and was anticipating learning the dulcimer which he had crafted.

Frank was a master craftsman. His pieces live on in the doors and windows of grand homes and in the spoons and bowls of humble kitchens. One inlaid chess table was displayed in a NYC museum. His meticulous attention to detail allowed him to create heirloom pieces that his family will continue to treasure forever. In his last years his eyesight had left him virtually blind, but that did not deter him from creating some of his best work. A "gentle soul" Frank was always willing to pass on knowledge of woodworking or bicycling on to a new generation and his sense of humor stayed with him to the end.

Devoted husband of Linda, loving father of Daniel (Casey) and Jeffrey and stepfather to Sydney (Michael), MacGregor (Julie) and Robert.  Cherished brother of Michael (Genevieve), Jo-Ann (Louis), Carol (Denis), Dona (Richard) and Teresa (Michael). Also survived by 6 nieces and nephews, 7 grandnieces and grandnephews, and 4 step-grandchildren. It was Frank's wish to be cremated and his ashes spread in the Connecticut River. To honor his life's work, donations of a tree can be made to www.alivingtribute.com.
