Francis A. Lovely
Lancaster, NH – Francis A. Lovely, 71, formerly of Lebanon, NH died Friday May 15, 2015 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
He was born August 5, 1943 in Hanover, NH a son of Merton Ellsworth Lovely and Etta Annabella (Dunham) Lovely. Francis graduated from Lebanon High School in 1963. He then began pre-med course work at Dartmouth College before enlisting in the US Army. The Army sent Mr. Lovely to the University of Pennslyvania in Philadelphia where he earned his Master's degree in Nursing. After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1972, Mr. Lovely began his 49 year career with the State of New Hampshire. He first worked with the Agency of Transportation and then with the State Liquor Commission. Francis was manager of the West Lebanon Liquor Store for many years and later was the supervisor of several stores in eastern New Hampshire.
Mr. Lovely moved from Lebanon to Whitefield in 1996 where he lived until moving to Lancaster in 2009. He enjoyed politics and was appointed by Governor Meldrim Thomson as commissioner of the State of New Hampshire Governor's Commission on Mobile Homes.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Donna Marie (Pitkin) Lovely; four sisters Lillian Remick Popielski, Doris Lane, Kathy Varnesse, and Marjorie Stebbins as well as a great aunt Ordella Eastman who lived with his family for many years.
Francis leaves his two sons, Kristien Ellsworth Lovely of Bath, NH and Shaun Merton Lovely of Lebanon, NH; sisters Ethel Hutchins of Canaan, NH, Debra Smith of White River Jct., VT and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT Friday May 22nd from 6-8PM. A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Independent Baptist Church in Lebanon on Saturday May 23rd at 10 AM with the pastor Chester Kulus officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Enfield, NH.
