WINDSOR, VT
Francis E. Hoover, 75, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 23 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.
He was born August 31, 1940 in McKeesport, PA the son of Margaret (Speziale) Hoover. He was raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Libby and Bumm Ziino in McKeesport, where he attended school. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Vietnam War Era. Following his honorable discharge he married Diana M. Slattery, whom he met while in the service, on October 15, 1962 in Woonsocket, RI. They moved to Windsor in 1971. Francis was employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Jct. as a Medical Laboratory Technician for many years until his retirement in 1995.
He was a member of the Windsor American Legion Post #25. He was an accomplished woodcarver. He was fond of playing poker with his friends, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
His wife Diana passed away in 1993. He was also predeceased by his parents, and one daughter, Jennifer Hoover-Brothers in 2001.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra St. Germain and her husband, Rey of Chelsea, VT, one son, Michael Hoover and his wife, Heather of Hartland, VT, one grandson, Ryan Brothers of Colchester, VT, several nieces and nephews.
At his request a celebration of his life will be held at the Hoover home at 74 Union Street in Windsor on Saturday, February 27 beginning at noon.
