West Lebanon, NH – Frances "Fran" Westover Thompson, 72, died unexpectedly, Saturday morning, surrounded by her family, January 13, 2018 at the Hanover Terrace Healthcare Facility in Hanover, NH.

She was born October 29, 1945 in Providence, RI the daughter of Arthur and Blanche (Chabaneau) Hawk. As a young woman she moved to the Upper Valley, and went to work in the floral department at the IGA in Lebanon, NH. During this time she learned the floral business and a seed was planted of her owning her own floral shop someday. With that goal in mind, Fran went to work at the Blushing Rose in West Lebanon where for the next eleven years, she perfected her flower arranging talent. In 1986 she opened America's Floral Shop in White River Jct., VT and operated it for the next twenty-seven years until her retirement in 2011.

Fran was a member of the Hartford Emblem Club #150, the Hartford Garden Club and the Red Hat Society. More recently she served as the Activities Director at Quail Hollow.

Fran loved knitting, reading, camping and listening to the waves at Old Orchard Beach. Fran was always excited to do any type of decorating and loved to decorate for the seasons.

Most of all Fran loved and was very proud of her five grandsons.

She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Charlotte Harbeson and a grandson Nicholas Cardente.

She is survived by her daughter, Mellisa "Lisa" Gilman and her husband Jon of Wilder, VT, their two sons, Patrick and Joshua, a son, James "Jimmy" Cardente and his wife, Kathy of Hartland, VT, their three sons, Mathew, Jacob and Zachary, a brother, Edward Hawk of Johnston, RI, a sister, Delores Albanese of Providence, RI, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Following her cremation calling hours will be held Sunday, January 21, from 2-4PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT.
