Hartland Four Corners, VT – Florian L. Voghell, Jr. age 81, died peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at home.

Born in Chester, CT, he was the son of Florian and Simone Voghell. His family relocated to Randolph, VT when he was young. He attended Randolph Union High School and discovered his lifelong passion for mechanics. Florian proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War era. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Randolph, VT and married Judith Green in 1968. The couple eventually moved to Hartford, VT, and later settled in in Hartland Four Corners.

Florian's career included 20 years at Kelton Motors, where he gained a reputation as an exceptionally skilled diesel and heavy equipment mechanic. After Kelton's closure, he transitioned to work for the Town of Hartford, where he spent 20 years as a Safety Mechanic. He ensured the Fire, EMS and Police departments' vehicles and apparatus were always ready and operational. He retired with great pride and was deeply respected for his dedication to the community.

Florian also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Hartland Fire Department for 35 years. In recent years, he volunteered by picking up weekly food donations and delivering them to the Hartland Food Shelf at First Congregational Church

Florian had a deep love for the outdoors, tending to bees, helping friends tap maple syrup, birdwatching and he especially enjoyed gardening alongside Judy. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and cherished times spent sailing with his family and friends.

Florian is survived by his wife Judith, sons Scott and James, as well as, four grandchildren.

A celebration of life will take place from 1-4pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the First Congregational Church in Hartland, VT.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hartland Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 341, Hartland, VT 05048.
