NEWPORT, NH
Florence F. Harris, 86, a resident of Newport, and formerly of Windsor and Claremont, passed away Tuesday, October 25 at her home in Newport, NH.
She was born January 10, 1930 in Bennington, VT the daughter of Jesse J. and Florence (Tatro) Smith. She was home schooled in Ascutney, VT. She married Robert S. Harris in Windsor on June 3, 1949. They resided in Windsor for several years. Mr. Harris passed away on February 10, 1973. She then moved to Claremont and most recently to Newport. Florence was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed raising her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Windsor American Legion Post #25 Auxiliary.
She was also predeceased by one daughter, Judy Stone in 1977 and by her parents, and by four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Harris and his wife, Patricia of Claremont and Kirk Harris of Newport, four daughters, Elaine Whitcomb of Claremont, Gail Ricker of Unity, Marie Greene of Maine, Robyn Harris of Hartland, one brother, Avery Smith of Atlanta, GA, two sisters, Rosella Brown and Joan Smith, both of Wallingford, VT, sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 29 at 11:00 AM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. The Rev. William Sheldon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
