Fay was born June 1, 1931 in Hartford, VT a son of Wayne and May (Harrington) Burnham. He attended Hartford High. He then worked as a logger with one of his brothers for a time. He entered the US Army in 1952 and served honorably in Germany as a mechanic during the Korean War. Upon his return he married Barbara Gunn on November 6, 1954 in White River Junction. He worked as a taxi driver and later at various machine shops, including Cones and New Jersey Machine. After working for the US Postal Service for over 20 years he retired in 1992. He lived for a year at the Davis Home in Windsor before being moved to Hanover Terrace in May of this year.
In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later in life he enjoyed going to the dog track, the casino's and was an avid coin and stamp collector. He and his wife Barb enjoyed playing cards and hosted many family game nights. Fay kept active for many years by walking his hill twice a day, even in winter.
Fay is predeceased by his parents, brothers Morris, Vernon, Roy, Lyman, Stanley, Wendall, Roger, Reginald, Earl and Hazen Burnham; sisters Helen Luce, Hazel Therriault and Hilda Smith and a son in law John Fletcher.
He is survived by his beloved Wife of 65 years Barbara Burnham; his children Koni Fletcher of White River Junction; Gary Burnham and wife Deborah of White River Junction,
Donald Burnham and wife Dorie of Land O' Lakes, FL;
Kathy Burnham of Wilder, VT and David Burnham of White River Junction; seven grandchildren, Kristy Driver and husband David, KatieJo Chapman and her fiancée Suzie, Megan Chapman and her partner Jason, Holly Burnham, Stephen Burnham, Aaron Burnham, Alex Burnham and fiancée Jelysbeth; two great-grandchildren Brandon and Bradley Driver; sister Katherine Vaughan and husband Jerry and many nieces and nephews.
