Evelyn Maud (Smith) Jones, 98, formerly a resident of Burlington, Vermont and Venice, Florida, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, September 1, in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 98.

Born on July 22, 1916, Evelyn grew up in Thetford, Vt. Evelyn graduated from Thetford Academy and went on to receive her teaching certificate where she then taught elementary school in Norwich, Vermont. She married Kenneth L. Jones on December 3, 1937. Together they enjoyed traveling around the world and were members of the Burlington Country Club in Vermont and Jacaranda West Country Club in Venice, Florida. Evelyn enjoyed golf, bowling, bridge, and bingo and was an active member in the Ladies Shrine and Eastern Star.

Evelyn is predeceased by her loving husband, Kenneth L. Jones; her parents, Dana and Lennie Smith; her sisters and their husbands, Mildred and Amos Piper and Vanessa and Bernard Tilden. She leaves behind three sisters-in-law: Suzanne Jones of Leesburg, FL; Nancy (Jones) Pyer and Madelyn (Jones) Johnson, both of West Lebanon, NH.

Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Thetford, Vermont on Tuesday, September 9th at 1:00 P.M. . Knight funeral home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.
