North Hartland, VT – Evelyn Frances Hughes McDaniel, 73, died Sunday August 11, 2019 at her son's home in North Hartland, VT.

Lyn was born June 30, 1946 in Hanover, NH, the eldest of seven children to Daniel George and Evelyn Frances (Carson) Hughes. She grew up in West Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School Class of 1964. She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Elmer Marsh, and together they created and operated NEAT (New England Automatic Transmission) and raised their two children in the Upper Valley until they divorced in 1982. She was remarried in 1988 to Edward McDaniel and they lived together in the Springfield and Chester area until his death in 2008.  Most recently she has been living with her son Robbie and his wife Kari in North Hartland.

Lyn loved people. She was a raconteur and brought people together with her wry and insightful sense of humor. Her outgoing personality made her exceptionally good at sales, selling Combined Life Insurance and Avon products for many years. She was a member of the White River Jct. Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She performed in "Barn Road", a local country rock band in the 1980's and continued singing as a hobby throughout her life. She also enjoyed drawing and designed and sold her own beaded jewelry.

Lyn was predeceased by her daughter Brandy Lyn-Lisa Marsh Lawrence in 1997; a brother Charles Hughes and sister Marguerite Joyce.

She is survived by her son Robert Marsh and his wife Kari of North Hartland; grandchildren Morgan Rose Lawrence, Taalyr Storm Marsh, Anthony Frank Felix Jr. and Nicholas Scott Felix; brothers Dan Hughes of Hartford, John Hughes and wife Penny of White River Jct.; sisters Cynthia Hughes and husband John Crockett of Putney, VT, and Sherry Farewell and husband Clyde of Enfield, NH as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday August 23 7-9 PM Knight Funeral Home, and a Funeral Service, Saturday August 24, 11:00 am at United Church of Christ in Hartford Village with a gathering following at the church vestry. Because Lyn was a colorful person, if you would enjoy this, please join us in wearing colorful casual attire. You are invited to bring a story or thought to share at the service or during the reception.
