White River Jct., VT - Eva Cavanaugh, 91, died Friday June 21, 2024, at Rockingham County Nursing Center in Brentwood, NH.
She was born April 6, 1933, in Wilder, VT, a daughter of John L. and Martha Mary (Stone) Bomhower. She was married to Merritt "Pete" Cavanaugh July 18, 1953, in White River Jct. They made a home and raised their three sons on Christian Street. She was a stay-at-home Mom until all of her children were in school. She then worked for the Hartford School District lunch program and continued there for 12 years. Later she worked as a Circuit Board Technician at Thermal Dynamics until her retirement. After 85 years on Christian Street she moved to an independent apartment in an Assisted Living community, Langdon Place of Exeter, NH. Eva enjoyed her Christian Street flower gardens, her Langdon place vegetable beds, her daughters-in-law (Peggy, Linda, and Diane), her grandchildren (Jon, Christa, Jen, Jillian, Merritt James, Alan, and Scott), her great grandchildren (Max, Finn, Dekkar, Liam, and Benny), her nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by brothers, Richard, John, and Harold Bomhower and a sister, Margaret B. Thurston, her husband Pete, and her son Michael Cavanaugh.
She is survived by her other sons David Cavanaugh of Townsend, MA and Merritt Cavanaugh of Grantham, NH.
A graveside service will be held in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Friday, June 28 at 11:00 AM. Knight Funeral Home in White River junction has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
