ASCUTNEY, VT
Eugene F. Quinn, 95, a longtime resident of Ascutney, passed away Thursday morning, May 10 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Windsor.
He was born January 8, 1917 in Boston, MA the son of John F. and Florence (Brann) Quinn. He received his schooling in Nahant and Boston, MA. He later attended the Essex County Agricultural School in Hawthorne, MA. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. He enlisted in December of 1942 and served with the 459th Anti Aircraft Division. He went overseas to Europe in November of 1943 where he took part in the Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach. Following his honorable discharge in October of 1945, Mr. Quinn returned to Nahant, MA. where he was employed at the General Electric Company in West Lynn, MA for thirty eight years, until his retirement in January of 1979. He married E. Barbara Ryall in Beverly, MA on March 19, 1954. They moved to Ascutney in July of 1979. They had spent the winter months in Sarasota and Bradenton, FL for eight years until 1989. Eugene was an avid model ship builder and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of fifty eight years, E. Barbara Quinn of Ascutney.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Monday, May 14 beginning at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney, with the Rev. Michael Boy, Pastor of the Ascutney Union Church, officiating.
