Wilder, Vermont – Esther C. Fisk, 93, died Friday March 16, 2012 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
She was born May 29, 1918 in Franklin, NH the daughter of Roy and Bertha L. (Kimball) Colby. After graduating from Franklin High School, Esther attended the Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing in Hanover, NH where she received her degree in nursing. She married Henry J. Fisk May 17, 1941 in Franklin, NH; they made their home in Wilder, VT. Along with raising their three children, Esther worked as a Nurse Practitioner at area hospitals and as a private duty nurse. She retired from Dick's House, the Dartmouth College infirmary. Following her retirement she and her husband wintered in Port Charlotte, FL. Mr. Fisk died (date). Most recently she has stayed with her daughter, Anna in Wilder, VT.
In her younger years Esther was an active member of the St. Paul Episcopal Church in White River Jct., VT where she sang in the choir, served as a reader and helped with communion. During her stays in Florida she kept busy with the Hobby Club and Community League in Port Charlotte. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Esther was predeceased by her husband, Henry, a brother, C. Howard Colby and a sister, Florence Geary.
She is survived by one son, Henry J. Fisk of Houlton, ME, two daughters, Joanne E. Fuller of Laconia, NH and Anna Defoe of Wilder, VT, eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
In Esther's memory the family requests that one take the time to spend with a loved one, especially a child, and make a special memory, in the same way Esther loved to do with her grandchildren.
