Obituary

Hartland, VT- Erwin Frank Brown, 85, died peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Lebanon Genesis.

Erwin was born March 19, 1939, to Ernest and Nellie (Mower) Brown. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1959. He spent most of his life living in Hartland, VT, proudly claiming the title of 'one of those Hartland Boys'. He worked as a carpenter and construction worker and was a member of the national carpenter's union.

Brownie was an avid sportsman, ready to fish and hunt every season, no matter the temperatures. He was always thrilled to talk about hunting, as if it were his hunts to hear the stories of hunting and bagging the bucks. As a competitive archer, he boasted many 'Robin Hoods'- when one arrow splits another in a bullseye. He thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings and holidays, with the banter of working, hunting, fishing, and all the kids' sports. He loved trips to camp to see the continual transformation, trips to the top of the mountain in Alstead to the cabin in the woods to talk bridges, and a ride to Sharon for a fish fry on the hill.

In recent years, he returned home to Hartland where he lived with his "kid", Kevin Hammond, and his wife, Marybeth. Allowing him to be cared for by all, while living his best life. He enjoyed all the things there, watching and feeding the birds, and visits from family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Nellie, his daughter, Tonya Brown, a sister, Pauline Henry, and his beloved life partner, Frieda Stammers.

He leaves behind his nephews, Danny, Terry, Chick & Punky Henry and their families. His large family includes Brian and Penny Stammers of Cornish, NH, and their family, Crystal, Aaron, Skylar, Sharon, Robert, Aaralyn, Maddison, Shannon, Chloe and Kyra. Debbie and Kevin Macia of Claremont, NH and their family, Tausha, Mark, Heather, Josh, Cameron, Morgan, Lilly and Cooper. Kevin and Mary-Beth Hammond of Hartland, and their family, Bethany, Mark, Rory, Calvin, Scott, Libby, Brayden, Victoria, Fletcher, Tyler, Caitlin, Jayden and Annabelle, and all the crazy dogs, especially that yellow one, Waylon, that really liked him.

As soon as all the hunters come out of the woods, we will schedule a celebration of life. We would like to thank all the caregivers that helped Brownie through these last months.

Knight Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook found at www.knightfuneralhomes.com
