Obituary

With her daughter at her side, Ella Matilda Perry, 100, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her adventurous spirit and loving heart, peacefully passed away the afternoon of July 25th, at Cedar Hill in Windsor, VT. She was the 5th of seven children born to Hector O. and Matilda (Chiffoli) Moquin on April 9, 1923 in Claremont, NH. In her early years, Ella worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor, VT, where she caught the eye of Evans Joseph Perry. After serving oversees during World War II love bloomed and they married on Evan's birthday, November 10, 1946.  They shared 73 years together. in Windsor.   Her adventurous spirit led her to achieving her solo pilots license in the 1940s.  She published 2 articles in Piper Magazine about her experience.

Ella was not only a woman of adventure but also a strong believer in the power of education and reading. She instilled this belief in her children and friends, actively tutoring numerous children, adults, and even inmates at the Windsor prison. Her dedication to helping others succeed was unwavering.

Throughout her life, Ella held various jobs, including being a private caregiver and an inspector at Goodyear Tire company, but her most cherished role was that of being a devoted and loving mother and wife.

She was a fun-loving individual with a great sense of humor, leaving behind cherished memories for her loved ones. Ella was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, VT where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Evans and their daughter Bette Perry, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Perry of Goffstown, NH, her granddaughter, Denise Matthews, and her husband, Roger, of Brownsville, VT, a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth-ann Matthews of Springfield, VT, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning, July 29th, at 11 AM at St. Francis of Assis Church in Windsor, VT. A burial will follow at a later date in the Vermont Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT, where she will rest next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society in honor of Ella's memory.
