Elizabeth Bettis Whitney
White River Jct., VT - Elizabeth Bettis Whitney, 85, died at home in White River Jct. on Sunday February 24, 2013.
She was born February 18, 1928 in the Russtown District of Hartford, VT, the daughter of John N. and Rubie (Ploof) Bettis. She graduated from Hartford High School Class of 1945 and went to work for the former Cross-Abbott Co. in White River Jct. She was married to Bernard "Joe" Whitney October 10, 1953 and they resided in the White River Jct. area all of their lives. In 1955 Mrs. Whitney went to work for the former Degnan Insurance Agency in West Lebanon, where she worked for over thirty years, retiring in 1990. Mr. Whitney died September 21, 2006.
Mrs. Whitney was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she served as a former Vestry Member and Youth Group leader.
She was predeceased by her four brothers Raymond, Landon, Charles and Kempton Bettis. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Whitney's request a graveside service will be held in the Hartford Cemetery at a date to be announced in June.
