Obituary

Elizabeth (Tish) M. Spaulding, 83 of Wilder, VT died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 at home surrounded by her family's love. She was born March 18, 1927 in Tunbridge, VT daughter of Earl F. Howe and Lura A. (Dean) Howe. She was a graduate of South Royalton High School, Class of 1945. She was recently pleased to celebrate her 65th reunion with classmates.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leonard F. Spaulding. They were married on January 18, 1946 in Tunbridge, VT and lived in Springfield, VT before moving to Wilder, VT in 1956, where they have resided since.

Besides her husband, she is survived by five children; Leonard (Joe), Jr. and his wife Linda of Sanibel, FL; Patricia Derrick and her husband David, Mary Lou DeFelice and husband Alex, Bill Spaulding and his friend Cathy Salter all of Wilder, VT, as well as a daughter Jane Ammel and husband Robert, Jr. of White River Jct., VT, and daughter-in-law Jean Spaulding of Westwood, MA. She was predeceased by their son, Jim, in 2004, as well as a sister Eleanor Jones.

She was cherished by her 13 grandchildren; Alex DeFelice, Jr., Matthew Spaulding, Jenna Wheeler, Jeremy DeFelice, Tony DeFelice, Jacqueline Henry, Elizabeth Charron, Jamie Spaulding, Dan Ammel, Aaron Spaulding, Kylie Ammel, Colin and Camden Spaulding. All of whom will miss Grammie's doughnuts almost as much as her! She held great pride in her 16 great grandchildren. Survivors also include her sisters, Freda Aldrich of White River Jct., VT., Sylvia Clarke of Newnan, GA., Rebecca Martin of Williamstown, VT., and many nieces and nephews who thought much of
"Aunt Tish." She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved spending time with her family and following her children and her grandchildren's school and sports events. As a talented crafter, she leaves her family with many handmade memories, be they Christmas stockings, baby sweaters, embroidered pieces and many other beautiful treasures. In recent years she was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. She loved "discussing" when they were winning as well as when they were not.

Many may remember Tish as the 'Avon Lady' which she sold for many years in the White River, Wilder area, as well as some of her prized handcrafts as a member of the Lebanon Arts & Crafts Assoc. and participated in many other craft shows.

According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be private. There will be an open house celebration of her life, between 1-4PM on Friday, August 13, 2010 at the home of Bob and Jane Ammel, 316 Rustic Road, White River Jct., VT 05001. Watch for the pink & purple balloons at the intersection of Rt. 5 & Rustic Road.
