Obituary

Norwich, VT – Elizabeth B. DeVaux, 75, passed away peacefully, Thursday afternoon at her home in Norwich, surrounded by her family. She was born October 10, 1939 in Woodsville, NH the daughter of Stanley and Gertrude (Staples) Bishop. Elizabeth grew up and attended elementary school in Bradford, VT and the Bradford Academy. She was nineteen years old when she married Alfred G. DeVaux Sr. on May 9, 1959 in Woodstock, VT. They lived for a short time in Bradford, VT before moving to Norwich where they lived the rest of their married lives. Elizabeth and Alfred loved to travel and together they visited forty-two of the fifty states including Alaska. Although Norwich was her primary home, Maine was her second home. As a little girl and in her later years, she had always enjoyed spending time on the Maine coast. Elizabeth was also an avid reader.
Second only to her family she also loved her pet Corgis.
Elizabeth was predeceased by an infant sister, Shirley Bishop and a brother Edward E. Bishop. She is survived by her husband of over fifty-five years, of Norwich, VT, a son, Alfred G. DeVaux Jr. of Norwich, VT; two daughters, Julie Spooner of Croydon, NH and Joan Tobin of North Thetford, VT; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, December 22, at 1PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. Burial will be held later in the spring time in the Hillside Cemetery in Norwich, VT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 66 Benning Street, West Lebanon, NH 03784 or to the charity of one's choice.
