Obituary

Quechee, VT- Elizabeth "Libby" Ada (Reynolds) Guthrie, 97, died March 6, 2018. Born on November 1st, 1920 to the parents of Beatrice (Lamphere) and Milton Reynolds. Elizabeth was the third of four children; Gerald Reynolds, Eleanor Cherrier, and Milton Reynolds all of whom predeceased Elizabeth. The Reynolds family grew up in West Lebanon on a dairy farm. Libby often spoke of the family and community gatherings at the farm, and the joy that she felt in sharing laughter and good times together. Clifford Samuel Guthrie "Kip" returned from the European Theater during WWII for the expressed purpose of proposing and marrying Libby. They had 3 days together before he had to return to war. Libby was predeceased by Kip in 2003. This loss was profound for her. Libby leaves behind her three daughters; Sandra GuthrieAnderson, Deborah Guthrie, Karen Guthrie and her son-in-law, husband of Sandra, Michael Anderson. She also leaves eight grandchildren, all of whom she adored without hesitation; Andrew Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Jeanna Anderson, Chloe Niko Guthrie, Zachary Guthrie, Logan Guthrie, and Mia Guthrie. In addition she leaves great granddaughters; Elizabeth and Michaela. She also leaves Pat Harris, a beloved member of the Guthrie family who shared her teenage years with us and who became a permanent part of the Guthrie tribe. Libby was a leader and a strong and influential human being in many arenas of her life. Being the administrator of the Guthrie's Nursing Home in Woodstock, VT, the first administrator of Hanover Terrace Nursing home, and owning her own healthful store, before it was in vogue to eat whole foods. She was a women before her time. we are grateful that the suffering that she endured the past few years is over. Rest in peace sweet Mom, Grammy, Nana, Libby, Elizabeth. We will never forget your love for us and your amazing courage. We hold you in our hearts and lives each and every day.
