Quechee, VT - Eleanora Velia Aquilino Geno, 81, died peacefully on Friday, September 10th surrounded by her family at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after a brief illness.
She was born January 5, 1929 in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of Urban and Rose (Ludovico) Aquilino. After graduating from high school she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Arnold College in Milford, CT in 1950. There she met Melvin "Bud" Geno and they were married on September 8, 1950 in Mt. Vernon, NY.
Mrs. Geno worked as a bank teller for many years beginning at the First National Bank of White River Junction which became First Interstate and then First Twin-State. She later owned and operated the Hartford Mini-Mart with her husband until their retirement in 1999.
Ellie's family was the focus of her life. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed making beautiful things for them, including quilts and delicate needlework. She was also very active at the Bugbee Senior Center and enjoyed her time there.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2008 and by her brother John Aquilino in 2006.
Survivors include her children: Deborah and Scott Aiken of New London, NH, Susan and Bill Williams of Kissimmee, FL, Claudia "Jo" and Richard Truell of Woodstock, VT, Amy and Reg Cramer of Fairlee, VT and Dana and Lea Geno of White River Jct., VT, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral Home, 903 Hartford Avenue, White River Jct., VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11AM at St. Anthony's Church in White River Jct., VT. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
