WINDSOR, VT
Eleanor H. Prevo, 88, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away, Sunday afternoon, October 13 at the Davis Home in Windsor, surrounded by her family.
She was born September 10, 1925 in Orleans, Vermont the daughter of Guy and Blanche (Hardy) Hicks. She received her schooling in Newport, VT and Claremont, NH. She married Clarence A. Prevo in Claremont on July 22, 1944. Mr. and Mrs. Prevo owned and operated Prevo's Radio and Appliance Store and Prevo's LP Gas Service in Windsor for fifty years.
Eleanor was a longtime active member of the Old South Congregational Church in Windsor, a member of the Windsor Emblem Club, the Ascutney Chapter # 1 Order of Eastern Star in Windsor, Chapter E, PEO in Claremont, and a longtime member of the Windsor John P. Larkin Country Club. She greatly enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, canning, and traveling throughout the United States with her husband. She especially was fond of spending time with her family at the family home in Windsor and at the family camp on Lake Sunapee.
Her husband of sixty six years, Clarence A. Prevo passed away on September 7, 2010. She was also predeceased by her parents and one brother, Wendell Sessions.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynda Tucker and her fiancé, Terry Radke of Bedford, NH, two sons, David Prevo and his wife, Kathy of Windsor, and James Prevo and his wife, Dianne, of Richmond, VT, one sister, Pauline Peterson of Tucson, AZ, one brother, Elwin Hicks of Colonial Heights, VA, seven grandchildren, Leanne, Lori, Greg, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Douglas and Timothy, eleven great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 17 at 11:00 AM at the Old South Congregational Church in Windsor with the Rev. Connie Moser, Chaplain of Bayada Hospice, officiating.
A reception for family and friends will follow in the church hall. A private committal service will be held at the convenience of her family Thursday morning in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
